About Us
What is a community school?
The making of a Community School, by Ezzo and St. Clair states, "The mission of the Community School is to serve a common educational purpose that perpetuates a God-orientation of like-mindedness found in our homes and second, to educate our children in useful knowledge that will equip them for life"
History of Community Schools
The Northridge Community School began in 1991, in Northern, California. Since then, many Community Schools have been started all around the United States. In 1998, the International Community School (ICS) opened in the Orlando area. It now has over 300 students grades Kindergarten through High School. Also, on August 8, 2002 Tampa Christian Community School (TCCS) opened it's doors with 42 students. You can access their websites by clicking Links here or on the right side of this page.
The History of BCCS
God gave Marilyn Garcia a vision of the need for this whole new way of doing school when she learned of the Tampa Christian Community School (TCCS). After visiting both TCCS and the International Community School in Orlando and much prayer God led other like-minded families to her. BCCS opened its doors in August 2006 with 12 students and 8 families. 2007 saw us almost quadruple in size with a total of 47 students and 28 families! In 2009 we began offering "A La Carte" classes to middle school students. We're very excited to be a part of what God is doing in advancing the emerging generation for Him!

How does it work?
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, students meet at our school facility and learn in a group setting divided by grade, taught by our qualified classroom teachers. On the other days, students learn at home with parent instruction, guided by lesson plans provided by our qualified classroom teachers.
Testimonies
BCCS has been a great transition from homeschooling. We struggled with consistency and getting to all our subjects. BCCS provides the accountability we needed through the lesson plans made for us along with a flexible structure that allows for the individual needs of the student. The school's philosophy promotes Godly character, parent involvement and input in the decisions involving our child. BCCS partners a Christian school environment with parent interaction allowing the student to flourish.
Pam - mother of a 7th grader
After my son’s discouraging first grade year at a private Christian school, and also having several home school friends enjoying their year, I was really torn about what type of setting he should be in for second grade and on. I did not feel equipped to home school him fulltime, but I knew I wanted more involvement with his education and school environment. In early 2006, a home school friend gave me a BCCS Informational Flyer and suggested checking it out, stating “It sounds like the best of both worlds”. So I went to the meeting and immediately knew this was where God wanted us to be. The schedule is perfect for our family. It allows me to focus on our home-based business two days a week and on his education the rest of the week. And, my son is flourishing in this environment.
Malea – mother of a 4th grader
I had been homeschooling because I wanted to be deeply involved in my children's education, but I also wanted more accountability and direction. Enter BCCS. The encouraging environment from both teachers and other students has given me great confidence as I drop off my kids there two days a week. Having the Tuesdays and Thursdays to myself to regroup gives me the break I needed to enjoy the other days with my kids more than ever. The flexibility of implementing the homeschool portion of the lesson plans has truly been a joy. Our family has been incredibly blessed through our involvement with BCCS.
